About me
Hi, I’m Dr. Elyse Schwartz, a licensed mental health counselor with a doctorate in child and adolescent clinical psychology. For more than 23 years, I’ve worked alongside children, teens, and young adults as they face some of the hardest moments of their lives. Helping others is my passion, and it’s the reason I do this work.
I began my career working with children and adolescents with emotional and behavioral disorders. Over the years, my work has focused on the things people often find hardest to talk about, including self-harm behaviors, trauma, and substance use, as well as co-occurring disorders, where more than one challenge is at play at the same time.
No two people come to therapy for the same reason, so I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. I draw from CBT, CT, DBT, TF-CBT, and EMDR, along with art and play therapies, and I shape each of them around the person in front of me. For younger clients, that can mean working through play and art. For teens and adults, it often means building practical skills for handling big emotions.
My goal is for you to feel safe, welcome, and free from judgment from the very first session. Reaching out for help can be hard, even scary at times, but you are not alone, and your story matters. We are on this journey together.
Today I offer virtual sessions for children, preteens, teens, adults, and families from my practice in Davie, Florida. If you’re wondering whether we’d be a good fit, I offer a free 15-minute consultation, and I’d be glad to talk with you.
Due to licensing, I can only provide services to people who reside in the state of Florida.
